      Full description

This instrument is a contemporary copy of the famous 1615 Antonio and Girolamo Amati Viola "Stauffer."  Like the original, the back of this copy is made of two pieces of lovely flamed maple from the Balkans in a similar pattern. The top is made of an even medium-grain high-quality Italian spruce. All this is covered with a beautiful golden-brown varnish and amazing antiquing and patina. The copying process is precise and detailed, replicating the scratches and dents of this iconic instrument, easily recognizable for the very traditional Amati style f-holes and form, crowned by the elegant 1600s arching of the top and back plate.
