      Full description

      This very distinctive violin clearly has its roots deep down in the 20th century Mantuan violin-making tradition, following the style and school of Stefano Scarampella. Despite its label and the certificate from the maker Mario Gadda attesting the violin's authorship to his father Gaetano, the craftsmanship, its aesthetic characteristics, and general condition confirm that the instrument was actually built by Mario himself. This was, most probably, an attempt to increase the instrument's value at the time.

      Born in Mantua in 1931, Mario Gadda started his studies in violin making with his father Gaetano Gadda at the age of 16. Known worldwide he made around 500 instruments to players and orchestras.Learn more
