Full description

Alberto Pasolini’s 2024 violin is a masterful homage to the distinctive and powerful style of Guarneri ‘Del Gesù’ in the 1730s. Pasolini’s deep understanding of historical craftsmanship is evident in the instrument’s bold outline, generous arching, and expressive details. The violin features a top of finely selected Italian spruce with an even, resonant grain, ensuring remarkable responsiveness and tonal depth. The stunning one-piece back, made of beautifully flamed maple, enhances both the instrument’s aesthetic appeal and tonal richness.

The varnish, a deep amber-brown with golden undertones, has been expertly antiqued, lending the instrument an aged elegance that recalls the great Cremonese masters. Pasolini’s delicate shading and patina work add further character, making this violin a visually captivating piece.

Tonally, this violin delivers a compelling combination of warmth, brilliance, and depth. Its powerful yet nuanced voice offers a rich palette of colors, making it an outstanding choice for both solo and ensemble performances. Responsive, articulate, and full of personality, this violin truly captures the essence of Guarneri’s legendary sound while incorporating Pasolini’s unique artistry.

By Kurt Dolling  |

This great Modern German bow was made by the hands of a mastermaker. Amongst the greater names of the bow-making tradition in Markneukirchen, Kurt Dolling's bows are sought after for their reliability, precision, and functionality. From our point of view, this bow exceeds for its precisely shaped and curved strong octagonal stick.
