Full description
This violin by Marco Anedda, made in Monterchi in 2007, is a powerful homage to the Guarneri ‘Del Gesù’ violins of the 1730s. With its heavily antiqued character, this instrument is both an expressive musical tool and a deeply artistic interpretation of historical craftsmanship.
The violin features a beautifully flamed single-piece maple back and a top of finely grained spruce, selected to match the bold personality of the model. Its golden-brown varnish is intentionally aged, with carefully applied patina and wear patterns that recall the centuries-old character of the original instruments.
A particularly compelling feature of this violin is the purposeful presence of tool marks left by the maker—each one thoughtfully placed to replicate the unique, rugged charm of Guarneri’s handwork. These details give the instrument a raw, historical authenticity, bridging the gap between past and present with striking effectiveness.
With a voice that’s responsive, deep, and full of complexity, this violin offers not just great tonal qualities, but also a truly personal connection to one of violin making’s most beloved traditions.
