    Full description

This masterpiece, made in c. 1737, stands out for its expressiveness and is what can be called a 'classic Marchioni' violin. The dramatic f-hole shape, the bold, full-arched model, and the lovely light orange-brown varnish make this instrument so attractive. The sound is crystal clear and wildly projective, being a perfect and versatile match for most orchestra and soloist violinists. The instrument portrays the classic features of Don Nicola "Amati," whose work was influenced by Venetian makers and resulted in some more authentic and spontaneous designs when it comes to crafting, f-holes placement, and outlines. The arching of this particular instrument is not as high as it can be found in most of his instruments, making this particular piece more performative from the acoustic point of view and carrier of an incredibly focused and dense sound.

    Don Nicola ‘Amati’ Marchioni

Marchioni's instruments are sought-after for their exquisite and powerful, projective sound. His craftsmanship proposes a level of authenticity and expression in his approach and models that set him apart from other makers who, at the time, could be already simply copying Cremonese patterns without much contribution to the development of a personal style.Learn more

Violin Bow by Emil Max Penzel, Erlbach, c. 1930

    By Emil Max Penzel  |

A unique mastermaker crafted this Exceptional Pre-WorldWarII German bow. One of the most recognized makers of Germany's early 1900s, Emil Max Penzel, elegantly displays his references and his origins among the makers of the Pfretszchner workshop in this bow, yet preserves and flaunts his own style. In our opinion, the most noticeable aspect of this bow, beyond the excellent craftsmanship, is the stunning high-quality Pernambuco wood.
