Violin by Mario Gadda, Mantua 1982
By Mario Gadda |
This violin by Mario Gadda, made in Mantova in 1982, is a refined stylistic interpretation of Giuseppe Ornati’s Milanese model, featuring elegant, low-arching, finely sculpted edgework and precisely executed scroll and f-holes inspired by the master. Crafted from a beautifully flamed two-piece maple back and fine-grained spruce top, and finished in a thin, luminous golden-orange varnish with subtle antiquing, it offers a powerful, focused, bright, and clean tone with immediate responsiveness. Preserved in mint condition, it is an excellent example of late-20th-century Italian craftsmanship, ideal for the demanding performer.
