      This Exceptional Pre-WorldWarII German bow was crafted by a unique mastermaker. One of the most recognized makers of Germany's early 1900s, Emil Max Penzel, elegantly displays his references and his origins among the makers of the Pfretszchner workshop in this bow, yet preserves and flaunts his own style. This bow shows a strong and robust grip, as expected for the maker's style, and impressive and smooth stability. The bow enhances the mid-range harmonics of the instruments, empowering its projection. In mint condition, this bow's stick is made of extremely high-quality light-brown Pernambuco wood of traditional octagonal shape. The nickel-mounting is elegant and well crafted, despite the probably limited access to high-quality silvery at the period.

      Emil Max Penzel, a renowned German violin bow maker, began his career possibly apprenticing at esteemed workshops like H.R. Pfretzschner. Penzel's commitment to excellence led him to establish his workshop in Erlbach in the 1930s, where he meticulously crafted violin bows of unparalleled quality until his passing in 1953. Learn more
