Full Description
Crafted in the heart of Cremona in 2009, this violin by Sibylle Fehr-Borchardt is a refined and elegant interpretation of the Guarneri 'Del Gesù' tradition. The maker’s personal model balances spontaneity with structure, infusing the bold character of Guarneri with her own modern sensibility.
The back is made from two pieces of maple with striking, intense flames, while the top is cut from beautifully figured Italian spruce—both selected with care for their tonal and visual qualities. The oil-based varnish is transparent and luminous, in a warm orange-brown hue laid over a golden ground. Slightly antiqued and delicately nuanced, it enhances the natural beauty of the wood beneath.
In our opinion, the most captivating feature of this violin is the f-hole design: masterfully symmetrical and crisply cut, they reflect a contemporary take on Guarneri’s famously free-hand carving style. This precise execution adds a new layer of elegance and intention, offering a bold visual identity while preserving the organic aesthetic of the original inspiration.
