Violin by Mattia Riva, Varese 2006

All violins come with a certificate of authenticity

Full description

This violin by Mattia Riva, crafted in Varese in 2006, is a refined interpretation of the classic Antonio Stradivari model. Loosely antiqued with masterful control, the instrument pays homage to the golden age of Cremonese violin making while carrying the distinct voice and elegance of Riva’s own artistry.

The violin features a beautifully flamed single-piece maple back, paired with a finely grained spruce top. Its red-brown varnish, laid over a luminous light ground, has been heavily antiqued with a rich patina and nuanced wear that gives the instrument an immediate vintage charm. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, from the subtle wear patterns to the texture and transparency of the varnish.

What stands out most, in our opinion, is the graceful and carefully carved scroll. Its curves are precise yet fluid, echoing the elegance of Stradivari’s designs while showcasing Riva’s sensitivity and control in woodwork.

A compelling fusion of beauty, functionality, and craftsmanship, this violin is an outstanding representation of contemporary Italian luthiery.

Violin Bow by Kurt Dolling, Markneukirchen, c.1960

By Kurt Dolling  |

This great Modern German bow was made by the hands of a mastermaker. Amongst the greater names of the bow-making tradition in Markneukirchen, Kurt Dolling's bows are sought after for their reliability, precision, and functionality. From our point of view, this bow exceeds for its precisely shaped and curved strong octagonal stick.
