A Violin by Luiz Amorim

Copy of Antonio Stradivari ‘La Pucelle’, 1709

Cremona, 2021

This violin is a precise copy crafted by a master maker. An accurately handcrafted violin, replicating every single detail of the original one. Follows the Italian traditional handcraftsmanship featuring Luiz’s passions of liberty and expressiveness in a work of art. From our perspective, the main feature of this instrument is the beautiful varnish wear and the carefully reproduced scroll. More

    Full description

The wood chosen for this violin follows the characteristics of the original instrument. The top's spruce was carefully selected and comes from Val di Fiemme, the same source the Cremonese Masters used to get their wood.  The two-piece back maple with medium flames comes from the Balkans. "It was Parisian dealer, luthier, and maker Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume who gave the instrument its name. After disassembling the instrument for maintenance he observed to his amazement, that the violin had remained untouched since it left the workshop of Stradivari. This instrument is painted with a bright reddish-brown varnish. Some very obvious features of this masterpiece are its very late wear to the varnish." Luiz Amorim
