A Violin by Domenico Fantin

Violin by Domenico Fantin, Varese, 1982

This personal model violin exhibits all the highest standards achieved by Domenico Fantin, and it is one of his most characteristic works. The intense red varnish over the golden ground colour, deep fluting and deep carved and round edged scroll are, in our point of view, its highlights. More

    Full description

The two-piece top of Italian spruce from Val di Fiemme shows a regular, beautiful medium-width grain pattern through the entire plate. Back, ribs, neck and scroll are all made with a fine flamed maple, all covered with a shiny and deep coloured red-brown varnish, very characteristic of Fantin's works. This violin is an excellent example of high-quality contemporary Italian violin making.

    Domenico Fantin

During his long career, Domenico Fantin has built more than six hundred instruments, following in the classic tradition of Cremona. He makes violins, violas, and cellos according to his own design, as well as copies of instruments by Stradivari and Guarneri del GesĂą and models inspired by them. He has also restored and set up instruments by prestigious makers including Stradivari, Guarneri del GesĂą, Guadagnini, and Bergonzi. Learn more

Violin Bow by Kurt Dolling, Markneukirchen, c.1960

    By Kurt Dolling  |

This great Modern German bow was made by the hands of a mastermaker. Amongst the greater names of the bow-making tradition in Markneukirchen, Kurt Dolling's bows are sought after for their reliability, precision, and functionality. From our point of view, this bow exceeds for its precisely shaped and curved strong octagonal stick.
