      Full description

This strong and fine-crafted bow is a great example of the approach that made Piernot sought after by the highly-ranked musicians of the 20th Century. The robust and neat work allows intense and gentle playing with precision and comfort, and it is extremely reliable for every technique and repertoire. In mint condition, the bow carries the maker's typical fire stamp: "L. PIERNOT A PARIS". Made of an extremely consistent and homogenous light-brown pernambuco of perfectly crossed medium grain. The most stunning aspect of this bow is the regularity and precision of the cut of the wood, which allows us to see the grain's direction, even and perpendicular to the stick throughout the whole piece. The handmade silver mounting is exquisite and shows all the skills of the master maker, decorating the most beautiful piece of dense, deep dark, ebony.

Violin by Pietro Pallotta, Perugia, c.1800

      By Pietro Pallotta  |

This violin was crafted by an Italian Mastermaker at the end of the 18th century in his own personal style, model, and approach. It shows off Pallotta's elegance and inventiveness, deeply immersed in the 1700s Italian tradition, yet very particular and authentic in his decisions, from the choice of local wood sources for the back, sides, neck, and head to the constructive approach that made the acoustics of his instruments so famous amongst musicians.
