Maker Background
The Vettori's workshop was founded by Dario I Vettori in Firenzuola, a small city between Firenze and Bologna, in 1935. Surving hardship during the II World War, Dario I Vettori passed down his tradition and skills on to his sons Carlo and Paolo. Then it was Paolo who took the reins of the family workshop and inspired his children Dario, Sofia and Lapo to continue the legacy of the Vettori family. The makers of the Vettori Family have their own making style, which makes each instrument unique, but they manage to combine tradition and history with the promise of innovation. Lapo was able to uphold his family legacy and his devotion to violin making craftsmanship resulted in beign a highlight at the XII Triennale International Violin-making Competition in Cremona in 2009. On that occasion, Lapo Vettori's Pietro Guarneri mode viola ranked the highest score for Best Viola Sound. His family's tradition and the expertise they passed down, together with his highly developed skills are responsible for this respectable accomplishment.
