A Violin by Lorenzo Rossi

Violin by Lorenzo Rossi, Milan, 2017

This amazing new-looking style model was crafted by a very experienced maker. Rossi's precision and method are outstanding in this violin. To interpret and adapt an old masterpiece model with such strong character as the Guarneri 'Del Gesù' 1744 "Ole Bull" into a new-fashion instrument is no easy task, and the magnificent outcome illustrates all the finest skills of the maker. In our opinion, the maker's refined ability is notable in the perfectly shaped edges that frame the beautiful deeply flamed single-piece maple back. More

    Full description

This incredible instrument is one of the highest and most pure examples of the contemporary violin-making approach. Despite being based and modeled after a model that is often the inspiration for copies and antiqued style instruments, due to its very unique design and strong and unorthodox character, the maker adventured in creating an elegant and neat interpretation of the Guarneri 'Del Gesù' 1744 Ole Bull. The top is made of two mirrored pieces of Italian resonant Spruce of even medium grain. The ribs, neck, and head match the stunning, luminous, vibrant, wide-flamed, single-piece maple back.
