This great Modern French bow was made by the hands of a mastermaker at the peak of his experience and maturity. Amongst the greater names of the bow-making tradition in Mirecourt, François Lotte's bows are sought after for their reliability, precision, and quality. This bow shows a strong yet gentle and elegant handle. With a rather reactive grip, the finely octagonal-shaped stick provides a stable and precise stiffness, and the incredibly low-density fine Pernambuco wood makes it a fast and decisive bow. The bow produces a strong and direct response and tone and is in mint condition. The stick is made of orange-brown timber with a precisely and perfectly shaped bulk octagonal shape, adorned with a lovely handmade silver and ebony-mounting, classic of his finest works.

A refined example of Camillo Mandelli’s mature Milanese work, this 1942 violin is crafted on his personal Stradivari-inspired model, influenced by the Antoniazzi tradition. With its elegant curvaceous outline, mildly strong arching, robust, rounded edgework, and finely fluted purfling, it reflects the disciplined character of the modern Milanese school. The instrument features a two-piece Italian spruce top and a striking one-piece quarter-cut maple back, covered in a luminous transparent orange spirit varnish over a golden ground. Bright, direct, and sweet in tone with immediate responsiveness, it is preserved in mint condition and represents an excellent choice for the demanding musician or discerning collector.
