Full description

This violin is deeply inspired by the Guarneri `Del Gesù' early to mid-period models from c. 1735, including the 1735 'Ploweden', especially in the f-wholes design, the 1736 'Cessole'and the 1734 'Spagnoletti'. These models share important and strong details and constructive characteristics that link them to each other and depict and very consistent and important chapter in 'Del Gesú's' work. The top is made from spruce from Val di Fiemme with medium to fine, regular grain, and the two-piece back of Bosnian maple with elegant, deep, medium-sized flames that run through the whole piece. The oil-rosin varnish is of red-brown color on a golden-brown ground and emphasizes the old patina that sits in the recesses of tool marks, showing the quick and free workmanship, the benchmark of Guarneri Del Gesù.
This violin won the Gold Medal in the antiqued section at the 2023 International Violin Making Competition of Pisogne of the National Association of Artistic Italian Violin Making and the highest score amongst all instruments.

Violin Bow by Kurt Dolling, Markneukirchen, c.1960

By Kurt Dolling  |

This great Modern German bow was made by the hands of a mastermaker. Amongst the greater names of the bow-making tradition in Markneukirchen, Kurt Dolling's bows are sought after for their reliability, precision, and functionality. From our point of view, this bow exceeds for its precisely shaped and curved strong octagonal stick.
