Full Description
This violin by Stefano Gibertoni and Valerio Nalin, made in Milan in 2026, is modelled on Stradivari's "Scotta" of 1709. The makers were prize multiple times in international competitions for their quality in copying old instruments, and this violin shows us why.
The two-piece back is cut from maple of broad, strongly contrasted flame that descends gently from the centre joint, with medullary flecks showing through the varnish. The top is of varying width, opening towards the flanks. The finish is fully antiqued: a golden-brown varnish over a golden ground, worn, with the small marks and patina representing a long-played instrument.
