Full Description
This violin by Michele Dobner, made in Cremona in 2025, is built on a 1929 model by F. Garimberti.
The back is cut from a single piece of semi-slab cut maple with a deep, mostly regular flame that runs almost level across the plate. Ribs and scroll are quarter cut maple, medium flames. The top is of fine grain. A clear golden-orange varnish with a new-looking finish lets the figure of the maple show through. The scroll is elegant and finely cut.
Tonally the violin is luminous and clean, with a sinewy texture: a rich, characterful G, a sweet A and a carrying E, in a voice that is mellow and open. It rewards a player who enjoys shaping colours.
