Full description

The selection of the wood for this cello was made according to the characteristics of the original instrument. The Italian Spruce top from Val di Fiemme of medium grain and with some bear-claw figures was chosen to get as close as possible to the original both in aesthetical and acoustic matters. The flamed maple from the Balkans of the back, ribs and neck and head, instead was selected  in a more free approach. A different textured Canvas for the same portrait. It presents thinner flames with a more shaded hue. Montagnana cellos are exceptionally fine for solo playing due to their rich and penetrating sound. It is rich, powerful, and full of harmonics from the very beginning. Whether the deep red varnish is intact or very textured and patinated, its appearance is often very dramatic. Montagnana consistently demonstrated a very powerful character and a very appealing sense of style.
