Salvatore Cantarella was born in Sicily in 1986 and later moved to Cremona to pursue his passion for violin making at the I.I.S. Antonio Stradivari. After earning his diploma in 2016, he continued refining his craft, drawing valuable insights from Cremona’s esteemed luthiers. Eager to expand his expertise, Cantarella honed his skills further in a renowned Roman workshop, where he gained hands-on experience in both violin making and instrument maintenance. This period allowed him to deepen his technical knowledge and master essential restoration techniques. In 2019, he returned to his roots in Catania, Sicily, where he established his own workshop. Today, he meticulously handcrafts violins, violas, and cellos, blending traditional craftsmanship with his distinctive approach to both new and antiqued styles. His instruments reflect not only his technical mastery but also a deep appreciation for the artistry and legacy of Italian violin making.
