Full description

The hands of a master maker crafted this cello in the heart of Cremona. Curiously, this instrument has an unusual inspiration for its model: the violins by Guarneri 'Del Gesù.' As far as it is recorded, it is possible to see the hands of Bartolomeu Giuseppe Guarneri in the work of the cellos labeled as his father's, especially with more intensity by the end of his life. Some experts claim that one of the cellos of the last part of Giuseppe Filius Andrea's career was actually almost completely made by his son, "del Gesù". Still, the inspiration for this amazing cello by Riccardo Bergonzi actually came from the late period Guarneri Del Gesù violins, since they have very distinct aspects in comparison to the style of his father. This instrument offers the best attributes of the maker: elegant and smooth partisanship, full of personal character and artistic expression. As a personal interpretation of the maker, this instrument features all of his very characteristic style. The top is made of high-quality Italian spruce with medium and regular grain, showing beautiful bear-claw figures. The back, sides, neck, and head are all made of quality flamed maple.
