Maker Background
After many years of studying the violin, Pascal Hornung turned his focus to instrument making and enrolled at the International School of Violin Making in Cremona. There, he trained under the guidance of renowned luthiers Negroni and Scarpini, earning a scholarship from the prestigious Walter Stauffer Foundation. He graduated in 1986 and continued to refine his craft in the workshop of master violin maker Stefano Conia, immersing himself further in the Cremonese tradition.Alongside his practical training, Hornung also completed a two-year course in string instrument restoration, developing a deeper understanding of historical techniques and structural preservation.
Pascal Hornung played a key role in establishing the Cremonese Violin Makers’ Consortium, which aims to uphold and promote the excellence of Cremona’s lutherie tradition.
