Charles Coquet, born in 1976 in Paris, embarked on his journey into violin making at the Newark School of Violin Making in London, where he studied for four years. After completing his education, he refined his skills by working with renowned luthiers Yann Porret and Bernard Sabatier in Paris, as well as Marc Rosenstiel in Veynes.In 2003, Coquet earned international recognition by winning first prize for his viola at the International Violin Making Competition in Cremona.
His approach to instrument making is influenced by the works of the Amati brothers and Guarneri del Gesù for violins, Giacomo Gennaro for violas, and Matteo Goffriller for cellos. He has also created his own original model, inspired by the methods of François Denis.
Since 2007, Coquet has been operating his own workshop in Paris, where he continues to build instruments celebrated for their rich sound and refined craftsmanship.
