THE GLOBETROTTING SIGNED VIOLIN

Il Cannone Giramondo

A unique violin created in Cremona to travel the world, carrying the signatures of great musicians and a mission of art, solidarity, and musical legacy.
Il Cannone Giramondo

The Il Cannone Giramondo is more than just a violin; it's a testament to the power of art and solidarity. Conceived by master luthier Luiz Amorim at Amorim Fine Violins in Cremona, Italy, this instrument is a faithful modern copy of the legendary Il Cannone Guarneri ‘del Gesù’ of 1743, which once belonged to the virtuoso Niccolò Paganini.

This extraordinary project had a noble mission: to travel the world and collect the signatures of 27 of the most sought-after violinists of our time on its internal back. The goal was to auction the instrument for a social cause, making it a unique piece of music history.

A Journey Signed by Musical Legends

Il Cannone Giramondo

The violin’s journey began with violinist Francesca Dego, the project’s first ambassador, who signed the instrument at the workshop in Cremona. Francesca also had the honor of playing the original violin once, an exceptional moment in her life.

The impressive list of musicians who participated includes: Shlomo Mintz, Joshua Bell, Daniel Hope, Augustin Hadelich, David Garrett, Maxim Vengerov, Julia Fischer, Ray Chen, and many more.

Introducing Il Cannone Giramondo

TEACHING MUSICAL EDUCATION IN THE BRAZILIAN FAVELA

The Cause: Instituto Baccarelli

The fundraising was dedicated to Instituto Baccarelli, a non-governmental organization in São Paulo, Brazil, that provides free musical education to hundreds of children and teenagers living in poverty. Through the power of art, the institute promotes social development and offers students the opportunity to pursue musical professionalization.

The auction of the signed Il Cannone Giramondo helped extend the project’s legacy beyond the instrument itself, supporting young musicians from communities where access to basic needs, socioeconomic services, and artistic education is often limited. In this way, the violin became a symbol of how music can create opportunity and become a powerful force for social change.

THE TOTAL PRICE WAS DONATED TO THE INSTITUTE

The sale of the Il Cannone Giramondo was a historic event. The instrument was auctioned for a total of €54,000 by Tarisio, the leading international auction house for fine stringed instruments, during its Fall 2022 edition in Berlin.

The full amount was donated to Instituto Baccarelli, directly benefiting over 1,200 children. This story is a powerful testament to Luiz Amorim’s mastery and the ability of music to unite people and make a positive impact on the world.
