Maker Background

Marco Pedrini was born in Codogno in 1983. At the age of 14, he started attending the A. Stradivari International School of Violinmaking in Cremona, wherein in 2000 he received the prize "Grandi – Taglietti" as best student and wherein 2002 he obtained his diploma under Maestro Giorgio Cé.

Then he attended the professional course of the Lombardy Region and, at the end of it, he did the apprenticeship at the workshop of Master Giorgio Grisales. In this workshop, he refined the techniques of the stringed instrument's construction.

In 2007 he decided to open his violinmaking workshop in Castelnuovo Bocca d'Adda (LO). From November 2008, he has his workshop in the city center of Cremona.
The models from which he gets the inspiration are the following: Stradivari, Guarneri, Ornati, Garimberti, and Montagnana, besides his own personal models. He makes modern instruments, but he also makes copies of antique instruments, besides making restoration works and repairs on antique instruments.

Maker Interview

What famous people play your instruments?

Natasha Jaffe (cellist, and teacher), Laurel Gagnon (first violin), Edward Cho (cellist), Edoardo Dell’Oglio (cellist at the National Orchestra RAI, and teacher), Vahram Sardaryan (violinist), and others…

Why did you start making instruments?

Since I was a child, my vocation has always been playing instruments (piano and bass) and manual skills. So at the age of fourteen, I started studying at International School for violinmakers A.Stradivari Cremona, developing these passions and skills in my path.

Why your instruments are so special?

Because I match classical instrument details and proportions, to fresh and innovative constructive solutions, in this way, I give the musician comfortable, reliable, and high-performing instruments.

What is your inspiration?

The customers satisfaction, and when I see again and listen again my instruments with great musicians after a long time by the sale. This is like seeing my children.
